OCONEE COUNTY
LickLog Falls consists of two separate waterfalls requiring
an easy to moderate 1 hour walk round trip. From Mountain Lakes take Hwy 11 to Walhalla
then 28 to it's intersection with 107. Follow 107 north past Oconee State Park to Village
Creek road. Turn left then right about 1-1/2 miles later onto Nicholson Ford Road. Follow
this gravel road about 2-1/5 miles (pass the lake on your left and pass the parking lot on
your right) where you will see a fork in the road. The left fork is private, follow the
right fork a short distance to the small parking lot. Take the trail past the Trout
Registration Box.
An
alternate trail is to follow a 2.4 miles section of the FootHills Trail beginning at Hwy
107 and Tamassee Road (FS 710). The 4.8 mile round trip is a easy to moderate 2 1/2 hour
walk through Rhododendron and Laurel thickets and a White Pine forest.

The first falls drops about 15 feet into as small pool, great for cooling off on a hot
summer day. The area at the base of the falls is a good place to picnic or camp.
The second falls drops about 30 feet into the Chattooga Wild and Scenic River. From here
you can follow the Chattooga River Trail upstream to the "rock gorge" or down
stream to Ira Branch.
